Here, Clark will explain to the general public some of the techniques used to identify the chemicals that are in the secretions of frogs and other creatures.
Gas Chromatography (GC) unit on right seperates volatile chemicals over a 30 meter long coiled column. The unit on the left is a Time of Flight (TOF) Mass Spectrometer (MS) that ionizes and fragments each chemical as it comes out of the GC-column. This is the GC-TOF-MS used to generate data for two publications (Clark et al. 2005, 2006).
