Mantella madagascariensis has red thighs and a horseshoe marking on chin, unlike M. baroni. These two species are Mullerian mimics since both are able to sequester toxic alkaloids from their diet consisting of alkaloid-containing ants and other arthropods. Mantella bernhardi from Ampasimpotsy, south of Ranomafana National Park, north of Tolongoina, in 2003. This is a very rare species, and these were found in forest fragments.

Mantidactylus opiparus was recently renamed? Mantidactylus menopleura. In any case, this frog lacks alkaloids, but mimics the poison frog Mantella betsileo. From RNP in 2003.

Plethodontohyla guentheri from Vatoharanana, a primary forest of RNP in 2003. This species was described in 2007.

Plethodontohyla cf. notosticta from Vatoharnana, RNP in 2003. This frog likely represents an undescribed species.
